The farms’ unique terroir in the Paardeberg is ideally suited to Rhône varietals and therefore is the main focus. The soil is granite-based, which contributes to the distinctive character of the wines. Access to dryland bushvines with an age of 30 years and older do set us apart from the rest. All the wines are grown, produced and bottled on the farm. With 350 HA under vine, the farm harvests ±2500 tons annually, of which 400 tons are bottled under the Babylon’s Peak brand with a red/white production ratio of 70/30.
Babylon’s Peak produces a host of top quality varietals including Chenin Blanc, Viognier, Roussanne, Shiraz, Mourvédre, Grenache, Carignan and Pinotage.
